The film opens showing us the ideal life of soccer mom Brooke Holton (Teri Polo). While multi-tasking while driving she meets with bad consequences that cause her to live a life of booze, pills, and 3 packs a 24-hour interval. One day Brooke is kidnapped, past fairly dainty people, and held for ransom along with a boyfriend who happens to play soccer, like her dead son. Brooke is forced to sober up, face reality and find a reason to live. The original championship of the film, I can't echo as information technology was a plot spoiler.
I saw the twist before she was kidnapped, which made the picture painful to watch as the acting and script was not great. If you similar those Lifetime blazon films, and aren't too vivid, y'all might want to cheque this one out.

Taken for Ransom-Taken to the Cleaners with this One **

I've never seen a motion-picture show go completely awry in the last 20 minutes or so.
When a couple lose their son in an auto blow, information technology's all downhill for the female parent quite chop-chop.
This is just in time for her to be kidnapped and put into an abandoned gym with some other kidnap victim.
The ii plot to escape and do so leaving their tormentors dead in a body of water of bullets. Unfortunately, her fellow captive also takes a bullet.
Returning to the real world, our heroine before long "discovers" that supposedly her husband is carrying on with her partner.
Information technology's then that this moving picture goes completely berserk. The unimaginable occurs with our dead people coming alive. We wanted our heroine to return to good health, only what was done to her is admittedly preposterous. Ridiculous to say the least.

Run for Your Life
Over the opening credits, a woman appears to exist running for her life. She turns out to exist multi-millionaire mom Teri Polo (as Brooke Holton). Post-obit a tragedy for which she blames herself, Ms. Polo takes comfort in pills, booze and cigarettes. Loving married man Matt Socia (as Albert Fuentes) and tightly-clothed co-worker Tia Carrere (as Michelle Gaines) are worried. Polo goes through professional psychoanalysis, but it doesn't work. She makes bad decisions at piece of work, burns breakfast and drunkenly drops her birthday block on the lawn. Her stupor also makes Polo vulnerable to stalking kidnappers...
"Final Recourse" aka "Taken for Ransom" well-nigh works. Watching it a 2nd fourth dimension will reveal the story's breaking bespeak – a bespeak-of-view error at nearly the 20 minute mark; listen for the line, "Rats leaving the sinking transport," and the cocking of a gun. Oddly, there are a couple of places where a fiddling extra editing would have made a scene like this fairly consistent with the ending. However, the basics of an engaging story are there. Most engrossing is the plight of Polo and younger victim Luke Eberl (as William "Volition" Graves) in a deserted gymnasium. Directed by Barbara Stepansky, they are quite captivating.

I accept seen some preposterous films in my time only Taken for Bribe/Terminal Recourse actually is upwards there as one of the silliest. Fifty-fifty with the ridiculous story line this nonetheless fails to be sufficiently entertaining.
The plot tries to be clever with numerous twists but they are so contrived and unconvincing that rather than being impressed you are left irritated. Everything well-nigh the film is non-expert, the acting, the dialogue, the script. Terri Polo fails to convince equally the lead although to be fair to her she was the best one in this and even the best actress in the world would have struggled in her role. The bad guys were bad caricatures and the supporting cast particularly the husband were wooden.
The ending actually does defy belief. It is so ridiculous and laughable that it falls into the so bad it'due south good category and the just reason I didn't rate this picture show a ane.
I tin can't recommend this motion-picture show to anyone other than those looking for an a laughably ludicrous motion-picture show to watch. Quite how this currently has a rating of five.half-dozen is beyond my comprehension. Just awful.

Maddening and Creepy

CONTAINS SPOILERS--The only reason I rated this movie 2 instead of the one or 0 information technology truly deserved is that the acting, overall, was actually well done, particularly the main graphic symbol played by Teri Polo.
Here is what I would have washed at the end, if my family ever, even nether such dire circumstances, would have treated me in such a way. I would have acknowledged that, yes, information technology did keep me from my drinking and smoking. Thank you. And and so I would take sued that unethical psychiatrist and the staff to the signal of any financial ruin possible. I would also have taken that band, which apparently inside five minutes won her back, and thrown information technology down the nearest sewage hole on the street, filed for divorce, and told the husband he could have the "best friend," as I would never take trusted either of them once more, much less in the 3 minutes it took for him to convince her that he "did it all for love." Oh, and I would have sued for, and won, total custody for putting my one living kid through a calendar month of assertive I was dead. Lastly I would have gone to the police and suggested jail time for all involved, equally they wasted huge sums of taxpayer money in this effort to once again evidence me that I was crazy, to say aught of a false constabulary call involving multiple officers when she reported her situation to them later on escaping.
Lastly I would have gone to the press, or possibly Lifetime Movie Network, and told my story for the world. Oh look that office was done already:).
And I would and then have gone on with my new life.

Seemed a fleck obvious

I'1000 not sure if they overplayed the tragedy affair or the writing was too on the nose or what it was, but I knew what was going on immediately from the kidnapping. What I detect more shocking are the reviewers/commenters who are complaining about the ending gone amiss. Seriously??? Then once again, I apparently ruined the movie for some of the people I saw the movie with while others were noting story points that supported my claim.
And so, if you lot are the blazon of person who figures out whodunit pretty rapidly, not the most challenging picture show for you to see. If not, yous might exist upset past the twist ending.

Great moving picture
Taken for Ransom/ Concluding Recourse is a thrilling drama about a wife (actress Tio Polo playing Brooke) who is driving her young son and gets into a car accident that results in the son'south death. Brook and then enters a deep depression as she tin't get over being responsible for his death. She becomes unproductive at work and eventually is toxic for her immature daughter and husband, who are already going through enough mourning their loss. Booke later get's kidnapped and held for ransom, until a couple of unexpected twists take the movie from good to great. Overall, the movie had the perfect amount of unpredictability and drama. I highly recommend it.

One of the more memorable Telly movies of mod times - at final a positive message

"Final Recourse" (aka "Taken for Ransom") is a superb flick -- I really enjoyed information technology and thought it had a cracking message.
It was extremely well acted, and the early part was very convincing about the deterioration of the woman played past Teri Polo (Brooke) after the tragedy with her son. Her decline and dissolution was heartbreaking to watch. You lot could feel for her, and it was a very convincing portrayal. In fact it made me uncomfortable, just not enough to turn away from the movie, and I pressed on.
I take to admit that the whole kidnapping part seemed like a setup almost from the outset, and I was very suspicious of that. And information technology _really_ felt similar a setup as soon as she met that child in the next prison cell. Just you never knew if it was a setup, you didn't have any proof, and in that location was always that nagging dubiousness, "What if this is the existent matter?"
But it was odd because, you're thinking, "These guys (the kidnappers) are not going to sit in that location and go to all that problem with a victim." You figure they either kill them or get what they want. To become to all that trouble seemed like a lot.
Merely over again, y'all kept going with information technology considering of this sort of reverse suspension of disbelief.
Chazz Palminteri of course was bully. And the attempted escapes were scary because yous simply didn't know what was going to happen.
When she came back with the authorities and there was no trace left, I was sort of puzzled considering I kept thinking, maybe some college criminal forces are at work here. I could envision that the mob or somebody swooped in and cleaned the place of all evidence, using bleach, etc. But like in other movies and TV shows where that kind of thing is washed. Maybe they cleaned upwards their tracks. Alternately, you wondered if she was in some sort of hallucinatory mode and she'd imagined the whole thing.
Then of class you see the husband and the assistant and you're thinking, "Aha, affair." And yous felt for Brooke equally she found out that the ii had visited the jewelry store a few days earlier. And when she discovered the paintings, and that they hadn't been sold, contrary to what she'd been told, you couldn't help feeling that in that location was a sinister plot afoot -- that the husband and his lover had concocted this whole thing, peradventure to impale her, or to get the bribe coin in a deal with the crooks, or only to faux the whole thing to get the money, and then they'd run off and go out her with all the bills or whatsoever. At whatsoever rate, all roads pointed to evil intent.
When it was revealed at the end that the whole thing was an exercise in "immersion therapy," that was a peachy conclusion and in fact the one that I call up everybody would accept wanted. I mean, if it had been me, I would accept been incredibly aroused, and in a sense you're wondering why Brooke isn't more enraged when she finds this out. She had a right to exist angry at this "kidnapping" because the whole thing was dangerous at many points, including the imprisonment, everything -- someone could have gotten killed. (Oh, and during the kidnapping, when they took that guy out and shot him, y'all knew that was done to scare her. Same thing with when the kid said his father paid up but they were yet keeping him to try to get more than.)
But what a relief! And information technology's a slap-up idea that you could stupor someone out of their self-destructive daze into finding the inner strength to fight a larger battle for survival. I'yard guessing that was the message, and it came across loud and articulate.
It was a overnice thought of taking someone so distraught and destitute because of the family tragedy and shocking them out of that and mobilizing their inner strength because they have to fight to survive, which elevates them to a higher place their state of feeling pitiful for themselves. In fact, in reality, that might be the only affair that would shock her out of the depths of such a tragedy with her son -- or let's say it would require something at that gild of magnitude to give plenty of a daze to mobilize her out of her state and back into beingness a capable human.
It was squeamish when the people at the end confessed their roles -- Chazz Palminteri as the well-meaning therapist, and probably most importantly, the assistant (Tia Carrere) equally the 1 who had set this all up in an attempt to help Brooke. And of course the male parent as being faithful and wanting naught more to help his wife. It'due south funny how you're thinking all these negative things similar infidelity, collusion, co- conspiracy, criminal enterprise, blackmail, and all the rest, and information technology's all benign in purpose and motive.
Then the begetter was trustworthy after all, and loyal, as was the assistant. And the therapist and his coiffure played their parts.
The overall message to me is that it's possible to ascension up above the tragedies and downfalls of life and find force to continue even after such great loss.
I volition say that information technology'southward a movie that stays with you well after information technology's over, and the message will last a long fourth dimension. I retrieve the folks who made this picture show did a great job, and it's a film that adds something to the canon. It'south more than than entertainment. It has a positive, uplifting message. And I'm glad I had the chance to see it. It definitely adds something to my life.
A task well done. Kudos to the filmmakers, actors, and crew for creating a corking and noble work of art.

Excellent motion picture - good thriller
I savor a good psychological thriller. This one has it all: suspense, challenging plot twists, good writing that keeps yous guessing every step of the manner.
The catastrophe was interesting and tied all the other parts of the movie together.
The interim was excellent, and the dialogue keeps y'all on the edge of your seat.
And then sit back, grab the bucket of popcorn, and wait for the thrills to kickoff.
The movie has a dandy deal of adrenaline rushes. And so frequently, what y'all recollect, is not.
When they disclose at the cease of the flick the who's whos, many volition be surprised and shocked.
So become your blanket out, stay warm, and enjoy the motion picture.
Definitely worth your fourth dimension to see.

Solid thriller
This was a solid picture. The performances were good throughout. Ane weak actor can ruin a movie, simply at that place were none. Teri Polo was very proficient in a difficult office. Chaz Palminteri is always compelling. He manages to bring honesty to every role and underplays beautifully. The writing was clever, and a nice departure from what unremarkably passes every bit a thriller. The screenwriter did a prissy job of conveying a lot without repetition. Practiced use of misdirection. I idea the score could accept been better - it felt inserted at times. Nearly importantly, though, the story flowed well and accomplishes the central task of whatever film - it keeps the viewer wanting to know what will happen next.
